North Houston District parks and sidewalks project update

Several infrastructure projects for the North Houston District (NHD) are now in high gear in early 2024, ranging from parks to sidewalks to pedestrian improvements, thanks to the awarding of major grants and funding from key partners.

2024 Parks and Natural Areas Special Recognition Award

The North Houston District received a $455,013 Texas Parks and Wildlife Department grant for the Wussow Park Renovation project, which includes two new soccer fields, new trails, gardens, security and play areas.

Reconstruction Underway at Prominent Corner off Greenspoint Drive

Houston, TX (SEPT 28, 2023) – With vehicular and pedestrian safety in mind, the North Houston District is widening the turn radius at the southeast corner of Benmar Drive at Greenspoint Drive. The construction project, which began the week of September 25, is expected to last up to three weeks and comes in just under $59,000.

Free Car Seat Safety Check May 25

Certified Child Passenger Safety Technicians will work one on one with you to show you proper installation and harnessing of your child’s car seat. A limited amount of car seats are available to those who qualify.

Community Night Out Celebration Builds Partnerships in North Houston District

HOUSTON – The North Houston District recently hosted a community night out for families in the apartment communities surrounding Thomas R. Wussow Park. The family-friendly event was an opportunity for attendees to interact with neighbors, meet local first responders and learn about resources and partners who provide services in the area.

The North Houston District recently celebrated community and corporate partners who contribute to the area’s growth and success. North Houston District President Greg Simpson highlighted the importance of the honorees by saying, “Our ability to continue building this community is closely tied to our partnerships and volunteers.” Melody Douglas, vice president of Finance & Administration for Morganti and vice-chair of the District’s board, joined Simpson in awarding outstanding community servants for 2016.
