After allowing time for guests to arrive and settle in, everyone was invited to join the staff in front of the building for the official ribbon-cutting ceremony. Once the crowd had gathered, Julio De la Cruz shared a few words, thanking those in attendance and expressing excitement to share this new dining experience with North Houston.

Maldo’s was founded by Joel Maldonado, a visionary restaurateur from Michoacán, Mexico. It is part of a family of concepts that includes Ostioneria Michoacan Seafood & Oyster Bar, Tacos Cecina Caldos & Tacos, and Suxico Bar & Sushi.
The restaurant has a chic, modern interior with exquisite finishes and a menu with distinct Latin flare. For example, the complimentary appetizer with dinner service is fresh baked bolillos with house-made refried beans. The atmosphere is ideal for client meetings, corporate events, a lunch with colleagues, or a romantic date night.
The menu features alluring surf and turf dishes, ranging from oysters, ceviche, and yellowfin tuna tartare, to braised short rib in mole and a 36 oz. Tomahawk steak. There are also plenty of vegetarian options to choose from.

Towards the back of the restaurant, a hidden bar and lounge called the Ocean Club by Maldo’s welcomes guests after hours, once the kitchen has closed for the evening. This space has a full bar and a stage for live music or a DJ, along with cocktail tables and lounge seating.
