Priortizing Partnerships

The North Houston District provides a variety of public safety programs and activities to supplement the hard work of local law enforcement agencies.

Our efforts to ensure the safety and security of the area go back more than 20 years, when crime in the area was dramatically reduced with the opening a public safety center that put more police officers closer to District.

Today, we fund and spearhead multiple innovative programs and services that help prevent crime, build community and promote positive interaction with law enforcement agencies.

HPD North Belt Division

The North Houston District funds the lease that allows the Houston Police Department’s new North Belt Division to headquarter in the District. Once fully staffed, the Division is expected to have approximately 100 officers providing primary police response in the area.

HPD Bike Patrol

Each summer, North Houston District partners with the Houston Police Department’s Bike Patrol to add an extra layer of security for our parks, trails, and common areas. Because officers are out and about, they tend to interact with citizens more regularly on routine patrols and get to know the community.

Harris County Sheriff’s Office Task Force

The District contracts with the Harris County Sheriff’s Office to provide proactive policing in the area. Launched in March 2016, this program increases police visibility and targets specific community concerns. In addition, deputies work to educate the community on crime prevention strategies.

North Houston Off Duty Patrol

The District employs a number of off-duty officers and deputies who routinely patrol business and retail areas. The officers work five days a week at various times during the day and evening. They provide a high visibility patrol through our commercial, retail, and multi-family properties.
